Hollis Hills is a neighborhood located in the northeast section of Queens. It is bordered by Grand Central Parkway, Cunningham Park, and Alley Pond Park. The historic Long Island Motor Parkway is also located nearby. The parks are popular year-round with bikers, joggers. walkers and nature lovers. Most of the homes in Hollis Hills are colonial, tudor and ranch style decor. They are predominantly a middle-class to upper middle-class population.
Construction in Hollis Hills began around 1940 and continued through the 1950s. The neighborhood has about 1,200 residences and shoppping and restaurants are limited. The Chapel of the Redeemer Lutheran, The Hollis Hills Jewish Center, American Martyrs Catholic Church, the Windsor Park Branch of the Queens Borough Public Library, the John Hamburg Community Center, the Hollis Hills Civic Association and Surrey Estates Homeowners Association are all supported and frequented by the residents of Hollis Hills.
